Transylvania: Sighasoara

Headed up to Sighisoara, apparently the birth place of Vlad the Impaler (aka Dracula). Stopped off on the way at Biertan Fortified Church. As usual it was really good. Found our little Pensione. A lovely man came out as we parked on the tiny street and indicated we should park behind his lovely big gates. A dear lady as if we were "australi". Nodding she made a phone call and I spoke with our host. These lovely people were her parents and had no English. Lots of smiles, nodding and gestures and we were in our room. It was quite a nice feeling....felt like we were part of  the family. Walked into town (800 metres) to get dinner. Really nice....we ate too much again. Lucky we a long walk back. I'm really surprised how many English channels are on the TV. Given we were lucky to get one or two news channels...NBC is shite...all election stuff down to every detail...sick of hearing when Hillary sneezed or Numnuts said something else stupid. Here there are about 9-10 English channels....lol even an Aussie fishing one.
Anyway left our family...after our host again said "australi???". Think the French number plates confused him. Said yes and nodded. He got excited and said, "John Newcombe, Ken Roswell, and Tony Roche" ... He then said "Illie Nastase" ...he was a tennis fan. Shook his hand, his wife blew me a kiss and we set off into town for brekkie. Parked the car and spent a few hours exploring....what a really, really pretty place. It looks like there was a castle or part of castle grounds at one point. The colours on the houses are bright and very cute. Cobblestones...like boulders everywhere. Even though I'm getting up steps and stairs much better ...can do a few hundred no worries.....and haven't had any pain relief or ant inflams for sooo long...the cobblestones still pose a problem and I get tired through the leg and a bit sore quite quickly. This town lays claim to being the birthplace of Vlad the Impaler (Dracula). All the souvenir shops featured really tacky Dracula stuff. We even paid a whole $2.00 to visit the room he was supposedly born in. New it would be bad...and it was...in a funny way. One room up some stairs. Lights flicker, red curtains and a really fake coffin. Funny. Anyway...you had to do it
